In places that are inaccessible by cars, people would resort to cargo animals. At the Grand Canyon, mules are the animal of choice. As much as I wished it to be a long-lasting tradition from ancient times, it is not. The use of mules was born to tourism a couple decades ago, and mules are still taking on tourists' burdens. Nonetheless, mules always have the right of way.
